MarkPap® Self

Please click the thumbnails below for a larger view.

MarkPap® Self is MarkPap test applied on self-collected specimens obtained by a woman in the privacy of her home and processed in the laboratory. Although the morphology of the cells is damaged in the vaginal fluids, the biomarker (which is an insoluble chemical compound) remains unchanged, and can be seen in the cytoplasm, even in segments of cytoplasm with completely destroyed nucleus. It is a part of the effort to provide women, who do not have any access to healthcare institutions, to send their specimens to be pre-screened for the presence of suspicious abnormal cervicovaginal cells. This method is in R&D phase now. Please see publications 31, 36, 41.
