The Global Academy for Women's Health

The Global Academy for Women's Health, Inc., is a non-profit 510(c)(3) organization with a mission of advancement of education and science for women's health globally. The Global Academy integrates multiple prior non-profit activities of BioSciCon continuing its legacy to work for public benefit improving women's health and saving women's lives. The Academy is incorporated in the State of Maryland in June of 2007 and is located in Rockville, MD, USA.

In the field of education, the Academy is dedicated to women's health education having in its long term-program organizing and conducting public discussion groups, forums, lectures and workshops, offering in-class and on-line educational courses, and publishing educational material (brochures, newsletters, books). Also, the Academy will make efforts to help the advancement of women's health education courses at colleges and universities and local communities. The founder is a long-year medical school and university professor including Women's Health curricula.

Advancement of science in the field of women's health is also a dedication of the Global Academy. This includes supporting scientific research leading to public benefit by developing better technologies for early detection, prevention and diagnosis of diseases, which will be made available to women globally. Prevention of gynecological malignancies will be the most immediate goal, since thousands of women still die each year of diseases that could be easily prevented. For example, cervical cancer is a completely preventable disease if detected on time. Yet, still half a million women develop cervical cancer each year and about 250,000 women die. These are somebody's mothers, daughters, sisters, spouses, grandmothers or friends who unnecessary suffer and die from a grave, advanced disease. The Global Academy hopes to make a difference. Our book "What every woman should know about cervical cancer" has been published. Please visit Springer's web site.

The Global Academy for Women's Health gratefully acknowledges the grant provided by Joseph E. and Marjorie B. Jones Foundation, Washington, DC for initial support.
